What is sustainable development ?

Sustainable development is a concept which can be described in one sentence :

“It is a development which meets today’s needs without jeopardizing the next generations’ chances to meet their own needs”. (Bruntland Report, « Notre avenir à tous », 1987)

Sustainable development can be implemented in the corporate world. This can be achieved through a continuous improvement process which takes the three following elements into account :

• Economic aspect,
• environmental priorities,
• social and corporate rules.

NIGAY participated in an experimental action of sustainable development called “21 pour durer” managed by ARACQ  and was a pioneer in this field.
This will to ensure economical development which respects the environment and social and corporate rules is all the more credible when the company can rely on its 150 years of expertise and success.
